To further promote our school vision, core values and aims and to provide opportunities for responsibility and engagement with the wider school community, a prefect system has been created for sixth year senior students and a Junior House Captain team for S3 pupils.

Duties

Prefects make a valuable contribution to the wider school community, taking on important leadership roles, assisting and supporting both staff and pupils, liaising with parents and other visitors and acting as excellent role models for their peers and younger pupils.

The roles of school Prefect and Junior House Captains include a number of duties, falling in to four main categories including:

• Supporting the promotion of our school ethos and house system including house events and competitions. 

• Supporting the school community with various duties including attending parent council meetings, carrying out social area monitoring and supporting younger students particularly during transition periods, 

• Supporting ongoing events in the ethos calendar including termly House Assemblies and House Council meetings.

• Demonstrating high standards of conduct and a positive attitude to peers and younger members of the school community. 

To support Prefects and Junior House Captains in their leaderships roles, teambuilding events are provided at the beginning of the year as well as workshops on presenting with confidence. 

Expectations

Pupil leadership roles seek to promote a diverse range of skills which will further equip students for life and work beyond school including confidence communicating in a range of scenarios, working as part of a team, building on organisation skills, showing initiative, resourcefulness and leadership. 

Prefects and Junior House Captains also work to help maintain a positive ethos and to stand as an example to other students in regards to their daily conduct, dress code, attendance, punctuality and commitment to achieving their individual goals. Our Prefects and Junior House captains strive to  remain approachable to others.
