Dear Parent or carer
I hope that everyone is able to get out and enjoy some of this lovely weather.
It was nice to have some Senior pupils back in school this week as well as the younger Hub pupils. The pupils were all appreciative of the time they had to complete practical work that they would not be able to do at home and teachers also were very happy to get this work done.
All teachers and Senior pupils in school have been given Lateral Flow Device tests to self-test twice a week in order to keep the school community as safe as possible. Although this is not mandatory it is very much encouraged.
It is very important that any pupils who have been invited to attend for these few weeks do so, and make the very most of this time, as there is unlikely to be any other time available to get this work done and that could certainly affect Provisional Grades.
The same timetable will be running next week from Monday 1 March with the addition of Engineering Science National 5 pupils (if this involves you, you will have been notified). The following week Engineering Science National 4, Higher and Advanced Higher will be added.
A reminder to all Senior pupils that the absolute last date by which they can submit their Option Surveys (the deadline has actually passed) is Wed 3 March. The Option form will be created from this information and if you have not submitted a survey you may not be able to choose your preferred options. The link is on S4/5 Year group Google Classroom.
It is extremely pleasing to note that out of approximately 740 pupils who engage with learning when we are in school, 147 pupils have complete engagement since the start of lockdown (7 weeks). They have not missed a single piece of work. I am hugely proud of all our pupils and everything that they are coping with but a special mention really has to go to this hardworking and conscientious group. As well as this, almost exactly half the school role has only missed at most 4 pieces of work across all their subjects since 11 Jan. You should be very, very proud of yourselves.
A last point is to politely remind parents that any communications to the school must go through Guidance teachers. Google Classroom is a forum for pupils and teachers and not for parents. Please do not in general Gmail teachers directly either. We appreciate your cooperation with this.
