Closure of A Block Classrooms

Dear Parent/Carer

I hope that all pupils have had a good break and are back to school refreshed.

Unfortunately we have had bad news this morning regarding a part of the school building.

Highland Council engineers have discovered deterioration in the structure of A Block (the block closest to the road and to the College) and have deemed it necessary for safety to take this part of the school building out of use. This means it will be closed completely to pupils from today.

We will have to close off the outside route past A Block also.

Whether the Block is repaired or may ultimately require rebuilding has yet to be ascertained.

In the immediate future we will have to rehouse all A Block classes elsewhere within the school as far as we possibly can. These are mostly Technical classes, but include a Geography/Modern Studies and ASN classroom also.

Following that we will be looking at temporary classrooms of some sort for a period of time, whatever the decision about the building is.

Disruption is clearly unavoidable but we will do our absolute utmost to minimise this as far as possible and in particular to ensure that the learning of Senior certificate classes is not compromised at this extremely important time.
